Background

Founded in 2024, Halyard Behavioral Therapy (HaBT - pronounced like "habit") is a small, compassionate, and client-centered behavioral health organization. We are currently operating in the midcoastal, greater Portland and Casco Bay, and western regions of Maine. HaBT offers services throughout the year including school and summer schedules.

Our
Approach

HaBT is a practice grounded in the concepts and principles of Applied Behavior Analysis, Radical Behaviorism, Constructional Behavior Analysis, Contextual Behaviorism, and DNA-V psychological flexibility. We serve a variety of diagnoses across all settings and strive to be collaborative and human-first in our work. While we primarily focus on direct support of individuals, the organization also supports others through Caregiver/Parent training, staff coaching/training, systems-level consultation, crisis/safety intervention training and design, and peer-to-peer support for social groups.

The state of Maine has a growing need for behavior analytic services. Services grounded in compassionate care, capable of blending of modalities, and maintaining flexibility to meet clients where they are at are especially needed. We saw this as a chance to provide those frames of therapeutic care to those we support and hope to support. This is maintained through the continued work of building the capacity of those we support to meet their own independent and autonomous needs, the professionals that also serve them, and the organizations that both are housed under. We believe in supporting not only the individual but the whole community around them to better prepare for those to come.

Our
Mission

Sailing Boats Racing

Halyard

Where does the name come from?

Being located  in coastal Maine, we wanted to honor the setting and the spirits of Mainers. Now, we are quite obviously not sailors (yet) but we felt that the halyard was an appropriate representation to behavior therapy. As the saying goes: "you may not be able to control the winds, but you can redirect your sails accordingly." We feel that our services help to provide those we work with some of the best tools, skills and abilities to both autonomously and independently raise their own sails to navigate the vast and unpredictable waters of life.

Meet the Team

We are continuously expanding HaBT and plan to incorporate more team members as we grow. If you are interested in joining our team, please contact us below or via our Contact page!

Managing Director

Elias Frazier, MA, BCBA

Elias Frazier, MA, BCBA, founder of Halyard Behavioral Therapy, has spent their career supporting individuals with various disabilities and needs through didactic and out of the box clinical thinking.

He began his journey in high school working for Camden Community Alliance and Resources, a non-profit focused on connecting families and children with other local organizations to receive the care and support they need. After graduating with a Bachelors in Psychology and a minor in Applied Behavior Analysis, he started working as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) for various behavioral health organizations in Savannah, GA.

Later, he moved to Colorado and began working for Eclipse Therapy. This experience further expanded his ability to support the individuals he worked with as well as the family members, staff, and organizations involved. After completing his Masters in Applied Behavior Analysis, he became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and began his journey of supervising and training RBT’s.

In 2023, he moved to Maine and began working with ABCBehave in the school systems of Portland, Scarborough, and Brunswick. Given the demand for behavioral services in Maine, Elias then founded Halyard Behavioral Therapy in August of 2024.

Elias has been, and continues to be, committed to bringing various models and styles of behavioral therapy together in order to meet the needs of the individuals he services. Elias is continuing to expand the organization by looking for supervisees and broadening services to additional school systems or organizations that need this level of support.
